Aug 18, 2022. #19. I have had experience of two warco mills, one in a college the other in a school. One had a casting shrinkage hole in its table about 20mm in dia. The school one was slightly better but both were agricultural to say the least. The dials bore little relation to what was actually removed.

As noted; I can raise and lower the ~16kg head on the mill by spinning the rotating arm with a single finger. Work out the weight of your drill head in kg and multiply by to get a suitable force value in Newtons ( with my 16kg head I went for a 155N strut as close enough).

A minilathe needs all the help it can get, lubrication, swarf clearance, sharp tool carefully set, and above all a steady hand. Two obvious cures: Buy a bigger lathe: heavy lathes with hefty parts are much better placed to deal with parting off forces. The bigger the better! Fit a rear toolpost of Gibraltar type.
